Napier chose two awards, which were category, rather than theme based, one for tutors and one for PDTs (or Personal Development Tutors). While the award titles were broad, the nomination forms highlighted the key areas Napier wished to address with their awards, namely Feedback, Assessment, and use of WebCT, the university’s VLE. Napier also chose the PDT category as well as the more direct teaching award, to emphasise their importance in academic and personal development for students, and as an area where they saw room for improvement. Awards were university-wide and titled:
- I love my Tutor: with the aim of promoting good practice and innovation within the academic teaching environment
- I love my PDT: with the aim of promoting good practice and innovation for Personal Development Tutor and to feedback to the ongoing revision process of the PDT scheme.
